A weekend with " Sassy Scrappers" challenge.

Good morning and welcome to the last day of the month already!! Wow we are already on a slippery slope that is fast approaching Christmas.. yikes!!!

So at the end of the month I like to try and complete some challenges so that I can start to use up the cray cray amounts of paper and embellishes I have here is my scrap room..

I also love taking part in local challenges too as I get to support them and help spread the word about our awesome local scrappy stores.. Sassy Scrappers is one of those local stores I love to support.. Olga ( one of the ladies behind the name) is just so help full and supportive and I love to shop there when ever my wallet allows ha ha ..

So I was excited when I had some time up my sleeve to take part in their monthly challenge using this gorgeous mood board.

And here is my take..

This was a layout made for my little girl. We bought her a " puppy" ( although Sophie was already 8 months old) for her 4th birthday. We got Sophie because Abby plays outside all the time and we live on a property in the middle of bushland. So Sophie was to be little Abigail's watch do for any snakes that might be lurking. Little fox terriers are notorious for being awesome snake catchers so I was very relieved to add her to the family. Abby fell in love with her right away and took Sophie everywhere with her, including into her room at night to sleep with ha ha ..

So we were very sad when Sophie passed when she was found with a tick on her little body. We had to put her down as she was to far gone. Abby was sad but very brave and came with me to the vets. It was a tough lesson for her but I am so proud of how she took it all in her stride. So this is a little layout for her to remember her Sophie Doo by.

To tie in the blue form the mood board I painted the "Brilliant" with a fine paintbrush and some Heidi Swapp colourshine.

I love that I could add some banners and hand stitching.

Thank you so much for taking the time to have a look :)

I also wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to the lovely ladies that take the time to leave comments on my blog. I LOVE it and smile as I am reading!! It means the world to me.

A weekend with " Life.Paper. Scrapbook" news

Good morning..

Well I have some exciting news that has come about. Roughly a couple of weeks ago I decided to apply for the Life.Paper.Scrapbook magazine call out.

To be honest I am not very confident with applications but decided that this year would be my year to take my scrapbooking a step further. This happened after my husband sat me down and told me that I needed to start doing things that made me happy, and if that as scrapbooking then that is what I needed to do.

So now I have learnt to just bite the bullet and go for it. Well as good fortune would have it, I was accepted to be a part of their Project life design team alongside the talented Lisa Webb, Aimee Dow and Lisa Wilsonson.  I am so over the moon and so excited to share the news with you all.

If you have not seen Lif.Paper.Scrapbook magazine make sure you head on over and check out it , as it is a free online publication which I know you will love as it is full to the brim with gorgeous inspiration.

I also have another exciting post to share with you all so stay tuned..( this one I am STILL pinching myself about)

A weekend with "Bright Skies" project life kit

Well hello there :)

Well  today I am here share with you my project life pages using the newly released Bright Skies Project life kit which I see is still available to purchase if you follow the link..

Can I just say how much I LOVED working with this kit. The bright colours and exclusive flair and stamps had me hook, line and sinker! Kayla certainly has done a fabulous job at selecting elements that all work together so well. I also loved the fact that the paper is double sided so I really did have a lot of choice when it came to putting the layout altogether.

I also added very few items from my stash including velum, which seems to be really making a comeback. I used velum twice on my layout. Once to create a little "pocket" for one the insta frames in the kit so that I could fill it with the cute star sequins that were added in with the kit.

I also wanted to tone down one of the background floral papers from the kit, as I was feeling it was taking away from the photo and was really bright. So I simply cut a smaller piece of velum and stitched it with my sewing machine directly to the paper. It made a huge difference and I love the extra interest element it adds.

If you have some old velum lying about dig it out and use it :)

Righto, and here is week 12 for you to take a peek at..

I simply cut out some words from some filler cards and used them for my title card instead.

Thanks so much for taking the time to have a look .Please if you would like to leave a comment do so as I LOVE to read them

A week with " Christmas Wreath" update

Well I am back with my next instalment of my felt Christmas wreath that I have been slowly working on.. At this pace I really do think I could have it complete in time J

I have been working on finishing off the leaves and started working on, what seemed like, a mammoth bow that I will attach later to the front.. let me tell you now that it was almost bigger than Ben Hur working it all out!!

Any who I am slowing working on all the baubles and I will be back later with another update

A weekend with " Scrapgoodies DT layout"

Hello all. I am so very excited to be here to show you my very first layout(s) as a scrap goodies Design Team member. I was so very lucky to be playing with one of my all-time favourite paper lines, Crate paper.

I also managed to squeeze out two layouts using the same few pieces of patterned paper and making sure that I used up all the left over scraps and fussy cut pieces. I cannot bear to throw out the scraps and always find a way to add them to another layout or project life spread.

All the products  I have used are available through the shop HERE , although I did add some Kindy Glitz ( spotlight) to help add some interest to the fussy cut paper. Here is an example of what I did and I LOVE the result..

All I did was randomly trace the outline of each flower with Kindy Glitz

I was also given some crepe paper and decided I would create a "ruffle" effect by laying down some double sided tape, and then just making a ruffle as I stuck it down. I love how it turned out.

And here is the over all layout..

Then for the second layout I used up all of my left over fussy cut pieces and stickers from the matching sticker sheet. I also used the brand new Heidi Swapp colour shine mists to help create some interest to both layout back grounds. Emma has them newly stocked in the shop and I cannot tell you enough how gorgeous and vibrant the colours are.

Well I hope you like what I have made with just a few pieces of paper and hope it inspires you to perhaps try out some fussy cutting and fun colour shine mists ..

A week with " Jot mood board Challenge"

Have you had the chance to see the NEW Jot magazine created by the super talented Kim Archer ..

If you have not had a chance to look at it follow the link here.

I have been a huge fan of Kim’s for a long time and have loved watching her brand evolve. I started with her on-line scrapbooking classes and live events from years ago and have been a keen follower since.

So when she started her new Jot project I was hooked instantly and have been loving her new mood board challenges! This week I have finally had the chance to play along and created a layout based on this board :

I have just started to play around more with mixed media items and knew right away that I wanted to try out my new water colour paints after seeing the aqua in the mood board. To help add some extra interest to the water colour I applied a chevron mask to the white card stock and painted over it with white gesso. When that was dry I then applied the water colour over the top knowing it would not “stick” to all the gesso, which I love!. Any way you still have some time to come along and play.. so what are you waiting for...

Thanks for looking
