A weekend with "Inspiration"

Hello :)

I thought I would share with you a little of my process of how I find inspiration in my scrapbooking and not from just other scrappers.

I now find inspiration form a lot of home décor items ,as it is easier  to see instantly ( visually) how I could interpret patterns or textures into my scrapping . So I love to scour through decorator magazines especially " Real living"  which is such a bright and up to date magazine. It is full of "everyday" home décor they show some awesome colour combinations that you an just lift and use right away.

The latest home décor trends seem to also trickle through into other main stream areas such as clothing, jewelry and of course scrapbooking products now.

Scrapbooking 10 years ago was never on "trend" as such as it seemed to have its own trends to follow. But it seems now that companies have looked to expand their customer base and appeal to a wider market. Personally it worked for me as I was getting a little over the teddy bears and chalking lol.

So let me show you an example of how I used an article in Real Living , and used it for inspiration and how it was interpreted into a scrapbook page.

So I was instantly drawn to the watercolours I saw in this pillow..

So I got about making the background using white texture paste and a chicken wire stencil..Once that dried I pulled out my water colours and played..

Then using the beach picture used with the pillow I added hints of yellow

I also used this gorgeous cut out that I bought from Anita over at Flutterby Designs . They are so versatile I and I love using them in my layouts  . I also used some of the gorgeous banner delights from Heidi Swapp  and they just added the right amount of "pop" to my pages. I also sprinkled some of the resin flowers and sparkly silver bow that I nabbed over at D-Lish Sraps .

Well I hope that you might have a go at creating a layout based around some inspiration that you found in a magazine ..

Much love
Bernii xx
