A weekend with " Catching Up with Heidi Swapp"

Hellloooo...

Well I think it is very safe to say I will move mountains, rain , hail or shine to make sure I get to " catch up" with Heidi Swapp.. We are super lucky here in Australia that we get another visit from Heidi so soon after her teaching tour at the end of last year.. The day Heidi was due here is Brisbane , it was by far one of the wettest days we have had in a very long time. We have been in drought and the rain was much needed, but this day alone I came home to 3 inches in the rain gauge... So the hair was wild, the clothes damp and the child a tad ratty from being cooped up in the car for the 3 hour drive there but it was so worth it!!

Photo courtesy of the Heidi Swapp blog.
It was an awesome turn out with so many familiar faces from our great little scrapbooking community that I have met through the internet. I managed to make the trek with a gorgeous friend of mine , who is not really a traditional scrapper any more but you know what us scrappers are like.. 1. we will take any opportunity to head to a craft store ( even if it is 3 hours away ) and 2 you only have to hear the word "scrapbook" and you are already making plans as to what you can buy to fit into your kind of scrapbooking.. ha ha ..

Heidi as always was so down to earth and willing to share her knowledge . She showed us some fabulous examples of her using the new Hello Today collection, which is now carried by our Spotlight stores..

This is just a little snippet of some of her stunning layouts.. So inspirational..

As I mentioned above I bought my daughter along with me as she often flitters around me when I am scrapbooking and she all too well knows who Heidi Swapp is.. So it was very funny to watch her be so friendly with Heidi, as she is normally quite shy due to her speech.

Abigail was also very direct with how to spell her name right and that she also wanted a picture with Heidi... bless her..

So at one stage there I was sure Abigail would have happily traded me in right then and there or the one and only Heidi.. she was very taken with her :)

So after Abigail's turn ( surely that is cray cray) I got a little time to catch up with my scrappy idol.. it is amazing the memory she has , as she remembered our past conversation and asked me how my Masters year was going..

I left there feeling totally inspired and chomping at the bit to get my hands on ALL of the Hello Today collection.. Even Abigail is very keen to play and make her very own memory file about our trip to visit Heidi.

Thanks so much for stopping by..

Till next time

A weekend with " Fancy Pants and my little darlings"

Helllooooo..

Welcome to all the new members to the blog.. I am so grateful and happy that you have taken the time to click follow on my itty bitty blog... And I LOVE reading all your comments ♥

Well today I wanted to share with you a little layout I made a few weeks ago using some of the  gorgeous Fancy Pants " Happy - Go - Lucky" collection. This is a collection that I have had here for a while and finally had the right photos to use for it :)

These photos were literally taken in my driveway after a day out with the kids.. They both jumped up to cuddle me so I took the opportunity to take a couple of pictures and adore them!! I I printed them in black and white so that they would easily work with this collection..

I have been totally obsessed with grid style scrapbooking for a while now ( I think it started early last year when I started Project life) as the more I look back through my albums the more I can see my grids :) So I split the page into four areas to create four mini layouts as such. I also made a similar layout HERE

I even managed to try the thread nest behind the flair button, that I have been seeing popping up all over the place. I just pulled a heap of thread off the roll and into my palm and then closed my hand / palm to make the thread all nest in together.  Then with some E6000 glue I create a dot on the page and then add the nest on top of that and then add the flair.

Doilies are another love of mine and I seem to be adding them to all my layouts at any chance that I get.

If by chance you are looking to try something different then I encourage you to scraplift this idea. I promise you it is so easy, fast and a great way to get four photos onto your layout ..
If you do please share a link in the comments as I would love to see your creations..

Till next time

Much love

A weekend with " Washi Tape - BoBunny Style"

Hellooo there..

Well today I have this layout up over on the BoBunny Blog to showcase what you can do with their brand new product line.. washi tape.

I must confess that I have a washi tape addiction. So when BoBunny announced that they were going to be introducing this new product to their range, my heart skipped a beat. And true to BoBunny style their new washi tapes coordinate beautifully with their collections, although for this layout I actually used Washi tape from the Modern Miss and pop Quiz collections and they coordinate beautiful with the fun and vibrant colours found in the Our Lil' Monster range.

I took inspiration from my favourite pattern Chevron, and decided to create one big chevron arrow in the background, using different washi tape in an alternating pattern.  I then stitched using my sewing machine, in between each row of washi tape, to just add a little bit of interest.

I also made an effort to create interesting layers and embellishment clusters , and to create interest within those I popped foam dots under certain noteworthy elements.

I love using washi tape to either add a subtle touch of colour, or like in my layout make it the centre piece to my layout and then base the layout around that .

BoBunny Supplies :
Pattered Paper: Our Lil' Monsters : Adventures.
Noteworthy: Our Lil' Monsters.
Buttons: Our Lil' Monsters.
Washi Tape: Black & White Patterned ; Modern Miss ; Pop Quiz.
Doily: Medium.

Till next time

A weekend with " BoBunny Ambrosia Mini Album Class"

Hellloooo..

Well I wanted to drop in and share this itty bitty cute as pie ( well I think so ) mini album that I will be teaching this weekend over at The Scrap n Patch . I made an effort to to use an older collection from BoBunny to show how some fussy cutting techniques and to show how an " older" collection can be dusted off and still relevant.

This layout is lumpy and bumpy which I LOVE about mini albums.. lots of extra yummy flowers..

And then I am most excited to share how to make these cute shaker sleeves.. Using glitter and sequins and a trusty old sewing machine .. LOVE this technique.

Then to make sure all of the mini album "real estate"  is being used , each page has a little journalling space for the adjoining photo.

I hope even if you can't make it to my class that you will at least dust of your Ambrosia collection and have a little play.

Till next time

A weekend with "Polly! Passion Fruit Souffle " layout.

Hellooo ...

Well I am here to you today to share with you my very first layout using the February Passionfruit Souffle kit. I swear the kits become more and more jammed packed with goodies that I get excited to use and I look forward to release nights!! So I was certainly excited to see so many bright colours in this kit....

So for the first layout I was drawn immediately to the woodgrain paper and wanted to create another grid style layout. I am also a little obsessed with those at the moment. For the simple fact that I love to cluster and create little layouts within my layout.

I used the coordinating chipboard sticker sheet mainly for this layout and only added a couple of doilies to help give it more of the homespun feel.

I mounted the chipboard stickers onto foam tape also to help create some interest.

The kit features lots of yummy goodies from Simple Stories and BoBunny and all the bits and bobs just coordinate beautifully .

Well I hope that I have inspired you to pull out your kit and get scrapping , I am off now to make another layout from this kit while the inspiration is around :)

Till next time

A weekend with " Modern Miss" cards for the BoBunny DT

Helllooooo..

Well today I am up on the BoBunny blog sharing some card I made using the brand new Modern Miss collection..

I even managed to make a matching envelope using the new Kaisercraft envelope templates. I love this template as it finally takes out all the guess work I was forever doing..

I made two cards from this collection and the first one I made here I wanted it to be bright and cheery and useful for any occasion.

I have been very keen to try and play with the new washi tape that BoBunny now make, so I decided to create an itty bitty washi tape bunting for the front of my card. It was so easy to do and I love how it turned out.

I also used one of the new 3 x 4 Misc Me cards for the front of the card. they really are so versatile. I can't wait to get my Project Life on with this collection!

BoBunny Supplies:
pattern Paper: Modern Miss.
Washi Tape: Modern Miss
Misc Me Journal Box Set: Modern Miss

This next card was really fun for me to make and I just love how again it is versatile enough to use for any occasion.

I just had to use the wood grain paper that was in the Modern Miss collection. I love nothing more then teaming it with bright colours for an effective contrast and the colours in this collection is perfect for that .

For this card I could not decided on a couple of papers to use so instead I decided to use the 6x6 paper pad and used a variety of the collection. I simply used my circle punch, adhered a very thin strip of adhesive tape, attached the circles and then ran it through my sewing machine. I then simply pinched the circles towards the centre to help create some texture.

BoBunnySupplies:
Patterned Paper: Miss Spunky
6 x 6 Paper Pad: Misc me
Chipboard: Modern Misc.

Thanks so much for dropping by and thank you also if you are taking the time to leave me a comment..

Till next time

A weekend with " Almond Biscotti" layout.

Helloo ...

Well I made it back for another day to share with you another of my layouts that I created with the January "Almond Biscotti" kit. from the Polly! Scrap store.

I managed to create two totally different looks form the the one kit and today I wanted to share with you a much cooler kit I created .. HERE is the other layout I created with this exact kit.

I used to light grey watercolour in the back ground then went to town with the layering of the patterned paper.

I loved these alphas from the kit so really enjoyed creating this title for my layout. To finish it off I created a little cluster in the bottom right hand corner to help draw the eye around the page.

Then it was just a matter of clustering  and layering all the yummy embellishments from the kit , all around the main photo...I even managed to sneak in the " this is awesome" stamp that comes in the kit..

I am really happy with how this turned out , and love how different the colour palette is from my usual bright self, so it was  a really nice challenge. This is exactly why I LOVE kits!! I get to try new colour combos and products I would not normally try.

Till next time

A weekend with " Good times Ahead " mini album.

Hellooo there,

Well today I wanted to share with you a little mini album I made using the gorgeous Fancy pants Collecting Moments  collection to record in one spot the family photo shoot I did with my family last Autumn. The collection name is just perfect for this project ♥

I have been wanting to make a little interactive album to showcase the photos, I just needed the right papers to match the photos as I know I wanted to use the Maggie Holmes mini clipboard as the base..

♥WARNING-- THIS IS A PHOTO HEAVY POST.. YOU WILL NEED COFFEE /TEA IN HAND ♥

I used the sweet hearts cut files from the Two Peas store which was designed by Wilna .F. and I simply heat embossed some gold glitter power over the top... You will see those accents sprinkled through the album .

I wanted to add some journalling, but in a subtle way , so I grabbed some velum and simply used that as a journalling card.

I just ADORE the Fancy Pants Envelopes and used these as mini pages in my album. They are really sturdy, and I love how they add "bulk" to the album..

I also just simply clipped in  the wood chip word as an extra interactive element to my album.. I love this idea and will be looking for more ways to do this..

Another way i used the mini envelopes was as an actual mini page.. And I also managed to use the cute pegs to help add more bulk to the album..

There are a few more pages in this album, but do not want to bore you.. so here is a little wrap up of the album.

I see Fancy Pants has a few new collections out, so I will be eagerly stalking local SS store for some more goodies to add to my stash!!

Thanks so much for stopping by..

Till next time
Much Love

A weekend with " WOW what a lucky pig"

Hellloooo

So I just had to drop in an share this with you all!!

I found this on my Facebook feed this morning from a page called " Sarcastic and Charming"

I honeslty have not giggles so much in a really long time!!Go on read it ♥

A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes. (O.M.G.!!!) A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death. (Creepy. I'm still not over the pig.) The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off. (Honey, I'm home . What the...?) The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumpingthe length of a football field. (30 minutes. Lucky pig! Can you imagine?) The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds. (What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?) Some lions mate over 50 times a day. (I still can't believe that pig ...quality over quantity.) Butterflies taste with their feet. (Something I always wanted to know.) Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump. (Okay, so that would be a good thing.) A cat's urine glows under a black light. (I wonder how much the government paid to figure that out.) An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. (I know some people like that.) Starfish have no brains. (I know some people like that, too.) Polar bears are left-handed. (Talk about a southpaw.) Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure. (What about that pig? Do the dolphins know about the pig?) Now that you've smiled at least once, it's your turn to spread these crazy facts. (and God love that pig!)

A weekend with " Scrapbook Class and 123 Challenge layout"

Hellooooo there...

Well today I am super duper excited to share with you a class that I will be teaching tomorrow night at my local scrapbooking store The Scrap n Patch .I was asked a while back if I was interested in teaching and I was super keen, but then life got in the way and a few months have passed.

But now I am ready and I decided to teach a layout that was similar to my Scrapbooking Magazine Masters entry..Then as I was thinking of ideas,I stumbled across the 123 Challenge blog for their March challenge and I knew right away what I wanted to created.  So I created this layout using their criteria..

This criteria was perfect for what I wanted to create and I love what I was able to create.

For the frames I used the light bulb stamps to create little frames of " dreams" . My daughter gets very excited when she wakes up and has had a good dream. She closes one eye and points to it and says " Mummy I had a good dream in my eye" Bless her..

I love that I was again able to use up lots of bits and bobs of embellishments that I had lying around to help create the rainbow effect.

'

I am so looking forward to teaching this class, and hoping that I can perhaps pass on my love for watercolours and scrapbooking..

Till next time

Much love
Bernii xx
